Health and Safety Policy
With control
of risks in construction high on the agenda,
the management of health, safety and welfare
in the industry is our highest priority.
Construction health and safety issues
embrace the workforce, the construction
environment and external factors. At Solo
Timber Frame we proactively work with
all stakeholders including our clients,
designers, contractors and employees in
developing strategies to control and minimise
hazards and exposure to danger, backed
up by education and training at all levels.

Our Health & Safety policy
We believe
that all our activities can be undertaken
safely and we will never compromise safety.
We will conduct
our business in a way that ensures the
health and well being of our employees,
contractors and any person affected by
our activities.
We know that
continuous improvement of our health and
safety performance is essential for a
successful company.
Everyone at
Solo Timber Frame has responsibility for
their own and others' health and safety,
but overall accountability rests with
management.
We will encourage
a health and safety culture.
The following
principles support our Health & Safety
policy and set out those areas of activity
which are essential to achieving the aspirations
of the policy.
Leadership
People at all levels in Solo have responsibility
for their own health and safety and should
set an example for others. Management
is accountable for health and safety and
managers will demonstrate leadership of
health and safety through personal example.
Hazards, risks
and control measures
We will identify the hazards and risks
associated with our activities starting
with our major risks. We will put in place
appropriate control measures and challenge
them in the context of change, so that
we aim for continuous improvement.
Health and
well-being
We will promote and improve the health
and well-being of all employees.
Competence
and behaviour
We will ensure that all our employees
are trained so that they are professionally
skilled and qualified for their jobs and
thereby can contribute to an improved
health and safety performance. We will
select contractors who can demonstrate
competence and effectiveness.
Incident analysis
and prevention
We will ensure work-related incidents
and near-misses are reported, investigated
and analysed to prevent recurrence. Our
investigations will focus on root causes
and recommendations will be shared and
implemented across the Company.
Sharing and learning
Everyone at Solo is responsible for sharing
good practice as well as learning from
near-misses. Sharing experiences with
others can help prevent incidents. We
all have a duty to intervene.
Contractors and joint ventures
Our health and safety standards apply
equally to contractors and Solo employees.
We believe our joint venture companies
should aspire to the Solo health and safety
standards.
Monitoring, audit and review
We will establish systems for tracking
our performance. We will regularly conduct
internal and external audits of our risk
control measures and management systems.
We will monitor behaviours at all levels
to ensure we create a successful health
and safety culture.
